Nobody is stepping up to Indigenous policy because it's become politically toxic since Australia voted in the referendum to return to the status quo - which is to do nothing.
Did I warn a "NO" vote would be a return to the status quo of doing nothing?

This is just embarrassing for Australia.
Last week Albo was touting Australia's commitment to sending military assistance to Bahrain as an alternative to sending a ship to the Red Sea.
Turns out it was 5 people.
It's being increased to 11 people.

Poor recruitment numbers for the Australian Defense Force really is becoming a massive problem very quickly, especially with the Navy.
There's some really interesting comments in this article.
Notably, I think they're correct in saying people join the Navy to actually do things and go places - you know, actual Navy stuff!
Instead, sailors are being deployed to natural disaster events around the country.
That's not a bad thing as the assistance is welcome and much needed, however it should not be the primary role of the Navy, or defense force wholly, yet that is what it has become.
The Navy has become so impotent and so crippled from crew shortages and ageing hardware, we're unable to deploy even one ship - yes, one ship - when the US requests it and we are pulling ships into dry dock because there's no crew to man them.
We've become 100% reliant on the US for defense of the country and that's a terrible thing as the US cannot (and should not be expected to) defend Australia's sovereign.

Publicly performing the Nazi salute is now banned in Australia, as is displaying "hate symbols" and trading of memorabilia from the Third Reich.
While I have no particular opinion of the banning of the salute, I do think my position on the banning of ANY symbology is very clear.
Symbology shouldn't be banned, in any case.
But Australia is fast becoming like Europe by just banning everything that offends because Aussies have become just so soft.
Censorship, restrictions, bans - none of these things allow a nation to progress, instead can only guarantee a nation will go backwards.
Look to Europe to see a live example unfolding in real time.

Youth crime is a problem plaguing all States and Territories across Australia, right now.
They can barely be touched by law enforcement, can't be tracked, can't be locked up, they get bail and recommit, and the cycle repeats.
We've gone way too soft on youth crime.
I honestly don't know the solution and it seems nobody does.
But we can do a hell of a lot better than we are now, I'm sure of that.

The latest idea to address the problem is to pull Pacific Islanders off of the islands to recruit into the ADF.
