Re: Australian Politics
This is absolutely unbelievable!
The Australian Government has been exposed for lying to the Australian people.
Despite the enthusiastic claims by the Australian Government that we played a critical supporting role in the strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, it's been revealed that we only had one to two staff members inside US CENTCOM, in non-critical postions.
The claims of having support personnel in Bahrain have been so exaggerated.
We've five staff members in Bahrain of which none played any role in the strikes in Yemen.
And even the claims of extra personnel being deployed to Bahrain have been grossly exaggerated.
It has been revealed they haven't even yet left Australia.

Re: Australian Politics
I no longer have any confidence that what my own Government tells me is anything close to the truth.

Re: Australian Politics
The Australian Defense Force looks like it could pull two more frigates out of the water, due to lack of crew.
HMAS ANZAC has already been pulled.
Pulling two more out of the water and out of operation will leave Australia with only five frigates in operation.
This is simply beyond belief and I honestly cannot believe what I'm seeing unfold.

Re: Australian Politics
Apparently problems are being experienced with destroyers too, from the lack of trained combat personnel.@Cicada3301AU wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 10:44 pm The Australian Defense Force looks like it could pull two more frigates out of the water, due to lack of crew.

Those inside the ADF appear to be blaming Lockheed Martin and the US for this problem, claiming, "It’s understood Australia has had ongoing difficulties in getting personnel into Lockheed Martin’s Aegis combat system course in the US.".

Re: Australian Politics
I have regularly posted over on X about Australia becoming a nation that I no longer recognize.
We are not - in any shape or form - the same Australia I grew up knowing.
In fact, we've become so unrecognizable that it's become scary to a lot of people, young and old.
This may very well be a global phenomenon, however Australia is a relatively young nation therefore the changes that have engulfed us are having nation-changing impacts with repercussions we've not experienced before as a developed first-world country.
Gemma Tognini believes we're approaching a tipping point, if not there already.

Re: Australian Politics
It's not the people changing the nation for the worse, it's successive failed Governments from both sides which begs the question, what are we voting for anymore?

Re: Australian Politics
"Antoinette Lattouf sacking shows how the ABC has been damaged by successive Coalition governments"
No, the problem is not the Coalition or even the Labor Party, but that the ABC itself.
The problems at the ABC are ALL self-inflicted and it can blame nobody for the irreparable damage it has done to itself.

Re: Australian Politics
Operation Sovereign Borders and its offshore detention component is indisputably the worst Australian Government policy.
Inhumane and corrupt.

Re: Australian Politics
I've said this so many times before; AusPol party funding and donations are increasingly becoming like the US.
Satisfying the donors has always been a priority.
The People are just a nuisance and a distraction.
