It's still amazing that 20 years on we still have so much secrecy about the decision to support the US and Britain to go to war with Iraq, based on lies.
Might I add, lies that were known to be lies.
There never were WMD in Iraq and they knew it.
Two decades later and Australia still has not ever had a formal inquiry into the Coalition's invasion of Iraq.
Instead, for two decades, successive governments have embraced Australia's notorious reputation and culture of secrecy.

Key Australian Government Cabinet documents which detail the decision making related to Iraq invasion of 2003 continued to be blocked for release.
Australia's addiction to secrecy is systemic.
What is interesting is that key persons that are familiar with the Cabinet documents being withheld claim what they recall being discussed at the meetings don't justify the documents being kept secret and not released into the public domain.
So we need to continue asking, why are they being kept secret?
What is the Australian Government hiding?

Australian Government departments have a notorious reputation for secrecy and stonewalling freedom of information requests.
It's not unusual for documents to be thrown around between departments for 5+ years, preventing vitally important documents from being placed into the public domain.

To me, this is the clearest admission to date that the stonewalling is deliberate.
