Re: Global politics 2024
Excellent column, by Peter Jennings.
Details the current state of affairs not just in the Middle-East, but globally.
What a mess geopolitics is in!
So much hatred against our own brothers and sisters.

Re: Global politics 2024
As above, but with a focus on China-Taiwan relations and upcoming Taiwanese election, which is arguably critically important for not just China and Taiwan, but the entire world.

Re: Global politics 2024
I'm starting to feel less and less sorry for nations getting swallowed by Chinese debt traps.
Greed, everywhere.
Greed, everywhere.

Taiwan voted.
And the result was not what China wanted.

Re: Global politics 2024
With Taiwanese democracy now becoming a three party system, effectively, it will inevitably make it more difficult for William Lai and the DPP to govern from a minority, with opposition parties KMT and TPP now in a position to have greater influence over decision making.root wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 9:35 pm Taiwan voted.

While it's not the result China would have preferred, it's not ultimately positive for Taiwan either.
Still, the status quo will stick and Taiwan will be just fine.
At least for the next 4 years.

Re: Global politics 2024
Amazing isn't it, the WHO preparing a draconian response plan for all member nations for the next pandemic.
Almost like the next pandemic has been decided on already.

Re: Global politics 2024
So the original quad consisting of US, Australia, Japan and India isn't working out as planned, due to supposed distrust of India, so a new quad is [unofficially] being formed, to dissuade China, which consists of US, Australia, Japan and the Philippines.
Whatever you call it and no matter what countries form these blocs, it does nothing to dissuade China.
