Ukraine conflict

Post by @Cicada3301AU »

According to media reports, Russia launched one of the biggest missile attacks on Ukraine since the conflict started, with approximately 158 missiles and drones launched into Ukrainian territory.
Reportedly, some passed over Poland.
Ukraine claims to have shot down approximately 114 of them.
Are we starting to reach a point where Ukraine needs to become more like Israel and be protected by some form of Iron Dome, supplied by the US, of course?
Certainly seems likely as one possible way for Ukraine to handle continued Russian aggression.

Prolonged war in Ukraine is quickly becoming a stalemate.
I guess it could even be argued it already is.
There needs to be a greater push for ceasefire and peace negotiations.
Inevitably this would include Ukraine giving up territory to Russia.
Nobody likes that idea and according to reports in media 80% of the Ukrainian population don't like the idea.
I'm skeptical of any Ukrainian polling as much as I'm skeptical of Russian polling.
There's propaganda from both sides, which includes manipulation of public opinion and even data which purports to represent public opinion. ie. polls.
However, the war cannot continue running as a literal stalemate and no side has a feasible objective.
It's insanity, really, that it's continued this long and how much money has been wasted.
Sure, Ukraine and Zelensky may want it to continue, but I think he needs a good reminder who is paying for the war.
It's sure as hell not Ukraine paying for it!
If all funding was pulled from Ukraine - in terms in military support and weapons - the war would end very quickly, through a forced peace deal.
If Trump is returned in 2024, I believe this is possible.

Australia pledges to continue supporting Ukraine throughout 2024 and for as long as necessary, through financial aid and military assistance.
There is bi-partisan support for assistance to Ukraine, in Australia.
Sure, we love to assist where we can, however it's concerning we're able to assist Ukraine but have left Australia wide open for assault by completely abandoning our own sovereign borders.
Something, somewhere, has to change.

I'm really not convinced of this.
We've heard similar analysis before which has turned out to be very inaccurate.
